For homeowners and veterans
Why hire veterans on GetGigz
GetGigz exists so veterans and military spouses can put real skills to work at home, and so neighbors can hire people who already know how to show up prepared. We are rebuilding the marketplace with that mission at the center.
Skills that already transfer
Military jobs teach trades, troubleshooting, logistics and the habit of finishing the task. A construction MOS, an aviation electrician, a culinary specialist or a military police graduate may already have civilian work they can offer locally. Our MOS to Trades tool maps those codes to gigs using public Department of Labor crosswalk data — estimates, not a promise of a job or a license.
What we will verify — and what we will not claim yet
At launch, veterans will verify their service (for example with a DD-214 or ID.me) and complete a background check. Licensed trades will be asked to upload a license. That verification is planned; it is not in place on every profile during this beta. The site footer says so because it is true: profiles, licenses and reviews are provided by users and are not verified by GetGigz yet.
We will not invent testimonials, user counts or partnership claims. If a local directory page looks sparse, that is because we are early in that market.
Free for veterans
Veterans list their skills at no charge. Clients pay a service fee to GetGigz. Military spouses are part of the community we are building for, alongside veterans.
Where we are launching
We are starting in Killeen–Temple around Fort Hood, then Fayetteville around Fort Bragg, then Columbus around Fort Benning. Those are the official names of the installations again as of 2025.
