Short version: GetGigz is in beta. Profiles, licenses and reviews come from users and aren't verified by GetGigz yet. The MOS to Trades results are general information, not a job offer or legal advice. Be honest, be respectful, and check pay and licensing yourself with the state boards.
1. Agreeing to these terms Updated
These Terms of Use cover your use of the GetGigz website, the waitlist, GetGigz accounts, profiles, messaging and reviews, and the MOS to Trades tool (the "Site"). The Site is operated by GetGigz, a veteran-founded Texas company ("GetGigz," "we," "us"). By using the Site, creating an account or joining the waitlist, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.
2. What the Site is today Updated
GetGigz is building a marketplace that connects veteran tradespeople with homeowners and property managers. The Site is in beta: you can join the waitlist, try the MOS to Trades tool, create a veteran or client account, build a veteran profile, browse profiles, post gigs and get matched with veterans, message other users and leave reviews. Booking, payments and veteran verification aren't live yet. Beta features may change, break or be removed, and when new features launch they may come with additional terms.
3. Who can use it Updated
You must be at least 18 to join the waitlist or create an account. Give your real name and an email address you control, and don't sign up anyone else without their permission. One person, one account.
4. The waitlist
Joining the waitlist is free. It doesn't create an account and doesn't guarantee that you'll be accepted, verified or listed on GetGigz, or that GetGigz will launch in your area by any particular date.
5. Your account New
Accounts are free during the beta. Keep your password private and don't share your account; you're responsible for what happens under it. Tell us at support@getgigz.com if you think someone else has accessed it. You can delete your account at any time from the Account page.
6. Veteran profiles and photos New
- Be accurate. Your branch, MOS/rating/AFSC, years of service, skills, licenses and certifications must be true. Never claim a license, certification, military service or experience you don't have. "Prefill from my MOS" gives suggestions only; edit them to match what you can actually do.
- Not verified yet. GetGigz does not currently verify military service, identity, licenses, insurance or background checks. Profiles show what the veteran entered.
- Photos. We recommend a clear, recent photo of yourself. Only upload photos you have the right to use, that show you (not someone else), and that follow the content rules in section 10.
- Visibility. You choose whether your profile is public or visible only to signed-in members. Public profiles can be seen by anyone and may appear in search engines.
7. Messages New
Messaging is for talking about work and services. Don't send spam, bulk or unsolicited advertising, harassment, scams, or requests for payment outside a clear agreement. We limit how many messages and new conversations you can start, and new accounts can't send links until their email is confirmed. You can block anyone, and report messages to us.
8. Gig posts and matching New
Clients can post gigs (job requests) for signed-in GetGigz members to see. When you post a gig:
- Describe real work you want done. Give an area, ZIP code or neighborhood only, never a street address, and don't put phone numbers or email addresses in the gig. Share those in messages once you choose someone.
- GetGigz automatically suggests veterans in the same area whose trades, skills, availability, profile and reviews fit the gig, and may email matching veterans about it. Matches are suggestions, not endorsements: they're based on what users entered and aren't verified.
- Gigs close automatically after 30 days. You can edit, close, mark as filled or delete your gig at any time. We limit how many gigs you can have open (5) and post per day (10).
- Veterans who express interest or are invited start a conversation in Messages; everything in section 7 applies. Any agreement about the work, price and payment is only between you and the other user.
We may remove gigs that break these Terms (including spam, misleading or unlawful posts, or posts with personal contact details) and suspend accounts that post them. You can report a gig from its page.
9. Reviews New
- Only client accounts can review veterans, one review per client per veteran, and you can edit or delete yours. You can't review yourself.
- Reviews must reflect your own real experience with that veteran. Don't post fake, paid, or retaliatory reviews, review someone you have a conflict of interest with, or offer or accept anything in exchange for a review.
- GetGigz doesn't yet confirm that a job took place before a review is posted, and we say so on every profile. We don't edit reviews, but we may hide or remove ones that break these Terms.
10. Content rules New
Anything you post (profiles, photos, messages, reviews and reports) must not:
- be false, misleading, or impersonate anyone, including claiming military service or credentials you don't have
- harass, threaten, or discriminate against anyone, or be hateful, sexually explicit or violent
- share someone else's private information (like their address, phone number or financial details) without permission
- infringe anyone's copyright, trademark or other rights
- include spam, scams, malware or links meant to trick people
- promote anything illegal, including unlicensed work where a license is required
You keep ownership of what you post. You give GetGigz a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, resize and reformat it in order to run and promote the Site (for example, showing your public profile to visitors). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except where others have already saved or shared it, or we need to keep it for legal reasons.
11. Reports and moderation New
You can report a profile, review or message using the Report links. GetGigz may review reported content, and may remove or hide content, limit features, or suspend or delete accounts that break these Terms or put others at risk, with or without notice. We aren't required to monitor everything posted, and we aren't responsible for what users post.
12. MOS to Trades results are information only
- Matches are suggestions. They're based on the public O*NET Military Crosswalk from the U.S. Department of Labor, plus our own grouping of jobs into gig categories. They don't mean you're qualified, licensed or certified for any work.
- Pay figures are estimates. Wage figures come from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and reflect pay for employees, not independent gig rates. Market rates come from the sources shown, and the "suggested starting quote" is our own rule of thumb. Actual earnings vary and aren't guaranteed.
- Licensing notes aren't legal advice. They're short summaries that may be incomplete or out of date. Before doing any work, confirm the requirements with the official licensing board, such as the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, or the North Carolina or Georgia boards linked in your results, and check your city or county for permit rules.
- AI-written text may be wrong. If AI features are turned on, review any suggested profile blurb and edit it to be accurate. Never claim a license, certification or experience you don't have.
13. GetGigz isn't your employer, and work isn't guaranteed Updated
GetGigz doesn't employ veterans or clients and doesn't hire anyone through this Site. Nothing on the Site is a job offer or a promise of work, income or customers. Veterans who offer services through GetGigz do so as independent businesses, responsible for their own licenses, permits, insurance and taxes. Any agreement to do work is between the veteran and the client. GetGigz isn't a party to it, doesn't supervise or guarantee the work, and doesn't handle payment. Clients should confirm licensing and insurance themselves before hiring anyone.
14. Not affiliated with the government or the military
GetGigz is an independent private company. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Army or any other military branch, the U.S. Department of Labor, or the Bureau of Labor Statistics. We use military job codes, military titles and installation names such as Fort Hood, Fort Bragg and Fort Benning only to describe your experience and the areas we serve.
15. Using the Site respectfully Updated
You agree not to:
- scrape or copy the Site in bulk, or use bots to submit forms
- overload the Site or get around its rate limits or security
- try to access admin features or other people's data
- submit false information or someone else's email address, or create multiple or fake accounts
- use other users' information for anything other than GetGigz work, or contact them to sell unrelated products
- use the Site for anything illegal or harmful
We may block access or suspend accounts if someone misuses the Site.
16. Content and third-party sources
GetGigz owns the Site's design, text and code. O*NET data is used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, and other data sources are credited where shown. Links to other websites are provided for convenience. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for them. You keep ownership of what you enter on the Site, and you allow us to use it to run the Site as described in section 10 and our Privacy Policy. User content reflects the views of the person who posted it, not GetGigz.
17. No warranties
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will suit your purposes.
18. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, GetGigz and its founder, team and partners won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost income or business, that arise from your use of the Site or reliance on its information. Our total liability for any claim related to the Site is limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
19. Indemnity
If you misuse the Site or break these Terms and someone brings a claim against GetGigz because of it, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim.
20. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Bastrop County, Texas, and you and GetGigz both agree to those courts' jurisdiction.
21. Changes and ending access Updated
We may update these Terms as GetGigz grows. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date, and if the changes are significant we'll email waitlist members and account holders. We'll mark what changed. If you keep using the Site after a change, you accept the new Terms. We may change or discontinue the Site, or any beta feature, at any time. You can stop using the Site and delete your account whenever you like.
